2025 Theme: From Dream to Reality - The Journey Continues
“Everybody can be great ... because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love." - Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
Oviedo Citizens in Action is seeking to honor people who are carrying out Dr. King’s words, people who have embraced King’s dream. Our local sponsor for these awards is attorney Tim Moran.
Qualifying criteria should include one or more of the following:
- Organizing activities that help others.
- Participating in or organizing activities that promote understanding and acceptance
- Helping better the Oviedo community in ways that fall under Dr. King’s definition of service
No effort is too small for consideration.
There are four award categories:
- Adult (18 or older)
- High School Student (currently enrolled in high school)
- Community Organization
- President’s Service Award to an OCIA member
Applications are due Dec. 18, 2024. Winners in the Adult and High School categories will receive a $100 check and plaque, and Community Organization and President’s Service Award winners will receive a plaque.
Winners will be notified and honored on Jan. 20, 2025, during the celebration at Center Lake Park.
