🇺🇸 Memorial Day 🇺🇸
Saturday, May 26, 2025 OCIA participated in the annual Flag Planting at the Boston Hill Cemetery with Oviedo's American Legion Post 243. Approximately 97 flags were placed at the graves of American Veterans from WWI, WWII, the Korean Conflict, and Vietnam.
Among those in attendance was one young member of the community Mr. Isaac Boston, a descendant of Prince Butler Boston. In 1927, Mr. Boston donated these 5 acres of land to Antioch MB Church so the Black community had an honorable place to bury their loved ones.
This Memorial Day, Oviedo Citizens in Action honors the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice reminds us of the true cost of freedom. May we always remember and strive to build a community worthy of their legacy.
